Once upon a time, a Disney adult had a baby girl. Using her favorite princess Ariel as the nursery theme, she had dream come true nursery of purple, magenta, teal and green. Then baby number two came a few years later. What was she to do? Hoping for a boy, Super Mario was going to be the theme but she was graced with another girl. Another little princess with no theme. Decided to go back to the beginning with Snow White. The journey to creating the perfect Snow White nursery was an adventure for sure!
Now, back to reality….
Snow White isn’t the most popular nor modern princess. It was tough enough doing Ariel in 2018, Snow White in 2021 was even harder. But I was up for the challenge and determined to get what I wanted. It was also pandemic, so I was quarantined at home with nothing but time for research.
I found a lot of general Disney princess and even more Ariel stuff, which didn’t exist when I needed it. Even though I was drawing a blank, I didn’t give up!
Started thinking about the space. We lived in a two-bedroom apartment where the girls had to share. With only half the room to work with, I had to get creative.

As I was building my Amazon registry, I use basic keyword search to find things. Using terms like Snow White, Disney baby, apples, birds, and forest, I got the basics of what I needed.
Bedding
After my first kid, I realized you don’t really need that $200 crib bedding set. It’s honestly a waste since you’re not supposed to cover the baby anyways. This worked in my favor since I was creating my set from scratch.
I loved the idea of using red, white, yellow, and blue. Nothing too traditional but I didn’t want it to look like a boy room either. (Actually would’ve been the same color scheme if we had a boy.)
Looked for:
- Basic Red, Blue, and Red with white polka dots sheets
- White skirt
- Red and Blue apples blanket
- Matching changing pad cover and receiving blanket
- Apple boppi pillow covers

General Decor
Then I needed to sprinkle Snow White specific elements to bring it all together:
- 18×18” Snow White pillow case for the bed
- Printed my favorite Snow White scenes to frame (saved from Google image search)
- Snow White wall decals
Crib Mobile
This is definitely for show cause my first kid hated it but I made my own mobile that really brought everything full circle.
The base and holder was actually from my first daughter’s mermaid mobile. Took the felt characters off and kept the white frame.
The 5 of the 7 plush dolls that I ordered through AliExpress. Took about a month to arrive but everywhere else only had the really large 16” plush dolls and not all 7 like I wanted.
I sewed on an eye hook to the top of each and tied a string to attach to the end of each mobile arm.

The stick holding it together was from an old school mesh awning thing my mother-in-law gifted my first daughter. I despised that white thing with a passion but I was trying to be nice since she was so excited about her first grandchild. But with the second kid, I threw that tulle out and kept the stick for my vision. We drilled a small hole at the tip and inserted a hook screw to hold that mobile.
To give it the forest look, I hot glued green leaf garland all over it.

Custom Letters
I’m all for personalization. Ever since I painted name letters for my niece 9 years ago, I’ve done it for all the kids in my immediate family. PENELOPE in simple red, blue, yellow, and beige with small accents came out really beautiful and elegant.
None of this is actually available for purchase through Amazon anymore (I checked!). Not surprised since this was 3 years ago.
But my point is that you don’t have to spend over $200 on crib bedding because you’re settling with what is currently out there. You can do anything. Just focus on a key element and run wild on Amazon, Walmart and Google. In my case, I searched apples and found the blankets and boppi covers. Once I had that, I knew my vision was possible. Couldn’t find a cute mobile so I literally made my own with plush dolls and what I already had from the first baby.
Keyword search does wonders and reuse what you have.
God speed mom-to-be! You too can create your dream nursery.
