Bizzy Liddle Dee - Hello Kitty Cake Table

How to plan a simple Hello Kitty Birthday Party.

For my daughter’s 7th birthday, we went all things Hello Kitty. Mostly because I got a lot of things while Party City was closing, but also to step away from all things Disney that we typically go for. I always DIY a good portion of my party decorations, but this time I let my clearance and close-out items guide me. Also, having the party at a craft creative art studio that hosts parties for children made me plan a simple Hello Kitty birthday party.

Since the party was held in a location, my options were limited. A 6 foot table was provided to decorate and add my goodies.

  • Purple fringe backdrop from Dollar Tree. (FYI – do not recommend these because they don’t come with tape along the top.)
  • Hello Kitty and Friends “Happy Birthday” banner.
  • Hello Kitty and Friends table cloth and a 34 inch #7 balloon in the front.
  • Using my own cake stands, I put my delicious Dominican leche cake and cupcakes from BJs (something else I don’t recommend. Those things were so hard) for kids.
  • Character candles with 3 regular pink candles to total 7 instead of a cake topper.
  • Two hot pink bins I got on Spring clearance from Michaels to put the goodie bags.
  • The goodie bags with simply teal cellophane, black ribbon to tie, and a square tag with a bow shape on the top.
  • Balloons on stands with Hello Kitty’s face on white lanterns to cover the base.
  • Miniature Hello Kitty and Friends figurines around the table from Amazon.

Thankfully, Party City closing really helped guide me in the right direction. I used what I had instead of buying new goodie bags, making a banner or cake topper. And I still have theme balloons left over since I bought so many when they were closing.

Moral of this story is that you don’t need to always make everything by hand. If you find decorations at an economical price, then go for it! The results will surprise you.
